An SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) rollover is due to mainly its centre of gravity. Because SUV’s have a high centre of gravity they are top heavy. So therefore any corrective action will bring about a dangerous rollover in an SUV. While driving an SUV making abrupt turns or sharp maneuvers will cause an SUV to roll over.

An SUV being a large vehicle is not used for off road driving but mainly for family purposes. Therefore the manufacturers do not include roll bars and with the same body of the vehicle which is used for off road driving and the absence of the roll bars and the presence of a high ground clearance and centre of gravity, An SUV will rollover and a fatal accident will occur. The addition of more weight in an SUV will increase the chances of a rollover despite the belief that added weight will add stability.

Studies have shown that over 90% of rollover accidents occur due to the SUV going off the road. Rollovers have been seen as the most dangerous types of car crashes. In a ten year period more than 300 people died due to rollovers. In 2000 36% of accidents were related to rollovers. More than 12000 people died due to tire failure which led to rollovers.

The vehicle need to be chosen based on the built of the person who is going to drive the SUV. This is absolutely necessary to avoid mishaps and unwanted accidents. Think wise and drive safe.
